Weight Loss And Age, Are They Related

Is age a factor in weight loss?

The other day I was asked by one of my weight loss students if it was possible for her mother to successfully lose weight due to the fact she was over 55 years old and going through the menopause.

Her mom had always insisted she was too old for weight loss programs and that they would never work on a lady of her age.

I explained to my student that there was no doubt that the human body changes as we get older and fat is deposited in places around the body that we didn't have to worry about when we were younger...

And hormonal changes in a woman's body can also affect the shape that you are, but there is one thing that remains consistent, no matter what your age is...

If you eat too much food and consume too much alcohol you will gain weight and any weight loss programmes you sign up to will suffer.

Many older people (especially older women) use their age as a perfect excuse for being over weight, but this does not have to be the case. All you have to do is look around you at the older generation and you will see plenty of elderly people who are slim, healthy and active.

Please, do not let age be an excuse for weight loss!

At any stage of your life, whether you are just 18 or well into your sixties you can benefit greatly from improved nutrition and a steady exercise regime which undoubtedly will result in better weight loss management.

The way you live dictates the size and shape of your body and the effects of a poor diet are multiplied as you get older due to poor food choices and lack of regular exercise. But age is no excuse, you can change your life no matter how old you are.

Weight loss and age... NO EXCUSE!

I discuss this topic more on my weight loss blog.
